Bridging Activities - Odense

Waterfront redevelopment can take a long time, even decades. Odense's package looks at options for achieving short-term social and economic benefits from a long-term development processes, and in bridging from "now to then" to minimise disruption and maximise the economic benefits of waterfront development.

Odense has approached participation and bridging activities by giving priority to visions and fostering new ideas rather than a rigid physical plan. Odense's work package on bridge building activities was based on the concept 'management of transitions'. Implicit in development of methods of forward planning was, therefore, to find ways of defining and communicating 'future potentials' of the area so a positive dialogue could be created between stakeholders and the public.
