Design quality and Public Realm - Aalborg

The quality of design of new and existing waterfront areas and neighbourhoods, both in the private and public realm, influences quality of life and the sustainability of neighbourhoods over time. The challenge is to develop modern mixed use development and integrate these with new types of public space.

As part of the project Aalborg explored the role of urban design in the waterfront; the means to achieve high quality design; the relationship of the waterfront to the city; and, the development and testing of planning methods and design tools to improve the public realm along the Aalborg waterfront.
